Permit Hours is not a government app. Permit Hours is an independent app built by Kovan Apps Yazılım Ltd. Şti. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or representing any DMV, state agency or government entity, and it does not provide or facilitate any government service.

Requirements change. Always confirm the current rules with your own state’s licensing agency before relying on them.

Every supervised-driving hour requirement shown in the Permit Hours app is taken from the publication of that state’s own official licensing agency. The complete list is below. The app also shows the source link for your selected state in two places: on the targets screen when you pick your state, and any time under Settings.

If you believe a source on this page is out of date or incorrect, email info@kovanapps.com and we will correct it.

How to read this table

Total is the minimum number of supervised driving hours the state requires before a learner can move to the next licence stage. Night is the portion of those hours that must be driven after dark, where the state sets a separate minimum. A few states substitute a driver-education course for part of the requirement, or set no statutory minimum at all — in those cases the app shows what the state publishes, not an estimate.
