MeloMatch – Privacy Policy

Kovan Apps Ltd ("Company", "we", "us", or "our") operates the MeloMatch mobile application ("App", "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our Service.

  YOUR PRIVACY MATTERS: We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data transparently. This Privacy Policy complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other applicable data protection laws.

By using MeloMatch, you consent to the data practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

Usage Data: App interactions, features used, time spent, swipe patterns, match interactions
Log Data: IP address, access times, app errors, crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics and Sentry)
Analytics Data: User behavior, feature engagement, conversion metrics (Firebase Analytics)

1.3 Information from Third Parties

Spotify: If connected, we receive your music listening history, favorite artists, top tracks, and playlists per Spotify's API permissions
Google Play Services: Authentication tokens, purchase history for subscription management

2. How We Use Your Information

2.1 Core Service Functionality

We use your information to create and manage your account, authenticate your identity, display your profile to other users, match you with compatible users based on music preferences and location, enable chat features, and process subscriptions.

2.2 Service Improvement and Analytics

We analyze usage patterns to improve user experience, develop new features, conduct research, monitor performance, and identify and fix technical issues.

2.3 Safety and Security

We detect and prevent fraud, monitor content for prohibited material using Firebase Cloud Vision API, investigate user reports, enforce our Terms, and comply with legal obligations.

2.4 Communication

We send service-related notifications, respond to support inquiries, and notify you of changes to our policies.

4. How We Share Your Information

WE DO NOT SELL YOUR PERSONAL DATA. We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

4.1 With Other Users

Your profile information, photos, music preferences, and approximate location are visible to other MeloMatch users for matching purposes. You control what information appears on your profile.

We implement industry-standard security measures: SSL/TLS encryption for data in transit, encrypted storage on Firebase servers, strict access controls, and regular security audits.

Important Notice: No method of internet transmission is 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

6. Data Retention

Active Accounts: Data retained while your account is active
Inactive Accounts: Accounts inactive for 2 years may be automatically deleted
Deleted Accounts: Most data removed within 30 days; some retained up to 90 days for legal or fraud prevention purposes
Legal Requirements: Data may be retained longer if required by law

7. Your Privacy Rights

7.1 Rights Under GDPR (European Users)

Right to Access, Rectification, Erasure, Restrict Processing, Data Portability, Object to Processing, Withdraw Consent, and Lodge a Complaint with a supervisory authority.

7.2 Rights Under CCPA (California Users)

Right to Know, Right to Delete, Right to Opt-Out (we do not sell data), and Right to Non-Discrimination.

7.3 How to Exercise Your Rights

  ACCOUNT DELETION: You can delete your account at any time in the MeloMatch app:

  Settings → Account Settings → Delete Account → Confirm

9. Children's Privacy

AGE RESTRICTION: MeloMatch is NOT intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. Contact info@kovanapps.com immediately if you believe a minor has registered.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in Turkey and the United States (where Firebase servers are located). We ensure appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

11. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use Firebase Analytics for usage tracking, Sentry for performance monitoring, local device storage for preferences, and authentication tokens to maintain session state. You can limit tracking via app settings or device privacy settings.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will update the "Last Updated" date and notify you through the App or via email for material changes. Continued use of MeloMatch after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.

13. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach affecting your rights, we will notify affected users without undue delay, report to relevant supervisory authorities within 72 hours (as required by GDPR/KVKK), and provide guidance on protective measures.
