These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Crime Map: Local Safety Alerts mobile application (“App”, “Service”) available on Google Play (Android) and the Apple App Store (iOS), operated by Kovan Apps Yazılım Ltd. Şti. (“Company”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Description of Service
Crime Map: Local Safety Alerts is a free application that maps recent crime and incident reports and sends crime and severe-weather alerts for your area. Optional paid subscriptions unlock premium features such as alerts near your location, crime alerts for your county, the full crime briefing and map details, your alert history, the weekly report, and extra themes. Features may change over time.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use this App. By using the App, you represent that you meet this age requirement. Users under 18 should use the App only with parental guidance.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes. You must NOT use the App to:
- Facilitate, plan, or assist in any criminal activity
- Evade law enforcement during the commission of a crime
- Harass, stalk, target, or monitor any individual
- Use the data to identify, confront, or take action against any specific person
- Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
4. Data Sources
The crime, incident, and weather information in the App is aggregated from publicly available third-party data sources. Because this data is public, there is no licensing restriction on its display; however, we do not own, control, or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, availability, or timeliness of any of it. Sources include:
- City & county open-data portals — official police / incident datasets published by U.S. cities and counties (many powered by open-data platforms such as Socrata / Tyler Technologies and ArcGIS).
- Public safety / 911 dispatch feeds — publicly published computer-aided-dispatch (CAD) and active-call feeds where a jurisdiction makes them available.
- U.S. National Weather Service (NOAA / NWS) — official severe-weather watches, warnings, and advisories.
Coverage, detail, and reporting speed vary by jurisdiction. Some areas publish in near real time, others on a daily schedule, and some publish no data at all. Sources may change, be delayed, or be discontinued at any time.
5. Data Accuracy
By using the App, you acknowledge that the crime, incident, and weather data:
- Is provided by third parties “as reported” and may contain errors, omissions, duplicates, or misclassifications
- Should not be relied upon for emergency response, legal proceedings, tenant/employment/insurance decisions, or any other critical decision-making
- Does not represent a complete or verified record of crime or hazards in any area
- Must not be used to identify or take action against any specific individual
6. Subscriptions and Payments
The App offers optional premium subscriptions that unlock additional features. By subscribing, you agree to the following:
Subscription Options
Weekly, monthly, and yearly plans may be offered. The plans available to you, their prices, and any free trial are shown in the App before you purchase and may vary by store and country.
Billing
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- The renewal charge is the same as the original subscription price.
Cancellation
- iOS: Go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Crime Map → Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Go to Google Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions → Crime Map → Cancel.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods.
Refunds
Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective refund policies. We do not process refunds directly. For assistance, contact Apple Support or Google Play Support.
7. Advertising
The App does not display advertisements.
8. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, interface, code, logos, and all associated intellectual property, is owned by Kovan Apps Yazılım Ltd. Şti. and protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not:
- Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Remove any proprietary notices or labels
- Use the App or its content for commercial purposes without our written consent
9. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own terms and privacy policies:
- Google Play Services — Core device functionality (Android)
- Firebase — Analytics, crash reporting, cloud functions, remote config (Android & iOS)
- RevenueCat — Subscription management (Android & iOS)
- U.S. National Weather Service (NOAA/NWS) — Severe-weather alerts
- City & county open-data portals — Public crime and incident datasets
We are not responsible for the practices of these third-party services. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies and terms.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of crime, incident, or weather data
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service
- Fitness for any particular purpose
- Non-infringement of third-party rights
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KOVAN APPS YAZILIM LTD. ŞTİ. SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Reliance on any crime, incident, or weather data shown in the App
- Interruption or unavailability of the Service
- Any actions taken based on information shown in the App
- Loss of data, revenue, or profits
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Kovan Apps Yazılım Ltd. Şti. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the App, violation of these Terms, or violation of any applicable law.
13. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, third parties, or for any other reason at our sole discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.
14. Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be submitted to the competent courts of Ankara, Turkey.
16. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
